The Irrelevant Advice/Opinion Asker

This blog is written mostly tongue in cheek. Some points may be informative. Please provide your feedback.
If you suffer from self-irrelevancy, please seek professional advice.

Hello. Have you or anyone else you've known ever used the sentence "Do you want my opinion?" or perhaps "Do you want my advice?"?
If so, you may have asked the question I have when I hear it - why are you asking?
If you reply "yes" to either of these questions, they will gladly give you their advice/opinion.
If you reply "no" to either of those questions, you will offend the person. They will give you the advice or opinion sometime later in the conversation. Let them give it now. Otherwise they will dwell on this advice/opinion for the duration of the conversation. They will not hear what you have to say. They will care about it even less than what they would've done if you had said "yes".
As the the person asking these questions, don't bother. We all know you'll say it anyways. Your question is irrelevant. Just give your advice/opinion and be done with it.

Regards,
Irrelevant
