Hello. Well no less an authority than Serge Savard, Hockey Hall of Fame defenceman and multiple Stanley Cup winner with Montreal, has joined the anti-fighting campaign. Or rather said he's still against fighting, as he always has been.
He also doesn't buy Gary Bettman's argument that it's always been part of the game, so it should stay there.
All I can say Serge is Bravo! You also recognize fighting is irrelevant.
Some people will say the NHL would lose fans if there was no fighting. All I can say is they're losing fans with fighting. How many fans are leaving the game because of fighting? None? Some? Many? No one knows.
Others will say no one leaves the building when there's a fight on. No one leaves when there's a car accident either. Does that mean people want to see them? More of them? Less of them?
How would you feel if it was your loved one fighting on the ice? Would you be worried about injury? I thought so.
Fighting has to go now that it's the 21st century. It's become irrelevant.
Regards,
Irrelevant
