Hello. Just watched some of the Tour Championship. It was rivetting TV. NOT!
It's amazing how dull a tournament can be when its purpose is no longer relevant. It's just another tournament now.
Many players didn't care if they made the Tour Championship. In fact some probably were glad they didn't have to play. More time for the family is more relevant.
So will Coca-Cola and Fedex consider sponsoring these events in the future? If there was any doubt before, it should be wiped out now. With no Tiger, golf ratings are lower than they've been in years. If it was my decision, I'd find something else to sponsor.
A true test will be to see what Johnny Miller, golf's straightest shooter, has to say. If he thinks it's irrelevant, he may be able to convince many it's irrelevant as well.
Time will tell.
